The breeze blows playfully on this fall day, rustling through the branches, tickling the yellow and orange leaves, playing faint music for those who would hear it. On the ground those fallen leaves leap and tumble in the wind, playing tag along the path as we walk. Cool for a summers day, yet warm for fall, the breeze kisses our skin with a welcomed freshness, a clear crisp scent delighting our senses.
In this peaceful setting we walk, hand in hand, taking in the beauty of our surroundings, and enjoying the closeness of our time together. Contentedly our hands rest, one within the other, the occasional tender squeeze to relay a deeper feeling that has no need for words.
We talk, of nothing in particular, a lighthearted banter that brings us close. Now and again along the path I lift my eyes to yours, and we share a glance that sparkles between us, a communication beyond the conversation, a love that travels on the breeze from one to the other. You smile, and I smile back, a squeeze of the hands to re-inforce what no words spoke but both hearts felt, then on we walk, calm and content in this peaceful place.
The path winds lazily on it's way, a leaf or two dance teasingly across our feet, a gust of the soft fall breeze caresses our faces then moves on to play in the trees. We round a bend, and as I turn to look into your eyes once again, you stop for a moment and lower your head to lay a gentle kiss upon my lips. Lifting your head, you look deep into my eyes, a contented smile on your lips, as we stand still, transcended to another time and place. Your hand slips from mine and softly moves it's way across my back, gently coaxing me nearer, as your lips find mine once again.
The love we share is evident in our kiss, just as it is in the soft presence of your hand between my shoulders, and the loving way my own hand travels slowly up your chest to caress your neck. We break, to gaze into each other's eyes a while, then kiss again, as time stands still.
At length, our lips part and with a boyish smile and a twinkle in your eye, you press your lips for one last kiss.... on the tip of my nose... before turning to proceed along the path. For a time your arm encircles me, and we walk arm in arm, my head resting every now and then against your shoulder, then with a glance and a smile we let our hands find each other once again, and on we walk... hand in hand, enjoying the closeness of our time together.
