After You're Gone
Kisses linger on my lips
like dewdrops
on velvet petals
long after you have gone.
I close my eyes
and turn my face to the rain,
for the gentle trickle of raindrops
caresses memories of your fingers
brushed against my skin,
and sets a sigh afloat upon the wind.
Beneath my arms
as I hug myself against the chill
I feel your touch
as compelling as the need to breathe,
and your breath replaces the breeze
that whispers against my neck,
and I am left
in a pool upon the cobbles
at my own feet.
And I am lifted,
and set upon the clouds
to dance in some ethereal wonder
on the wings of a rainbow.
