Wisps of You

I have welcomed you
into that place in my heart
that bears your name,
leaving a promise on your lips
with a kiss
soft enough to melt winter away
that it might drip from the sky
like the Auroras
and fall like dew drops
from the tips of my lashes
silent,
yet whispering of passions
as the taste of it lingers
on your tongue

And you have said
that I would try and grasp
a wisp of smoke,
hold it tight in my fist,
bring it home and lay it on my pillow
if it would make me feel
even a tiny bit more connected,
but I am not alone in this ache
for you would drive a thousand miles
through blinding snow
with one thought on your mind
just to fill the empty between your arms
if only for a minute or two

As the sun setting
on another beautiful day —
beautiful because it blessed me
with another twenty-four hours
of you in my life —
when the sands have trickled
through the glass
I will miss you,
but I will wait for you
as the robin gathering April twigs
to build her nest
awaits her red breasted mate
on the promise of another spring of Love
and warm sunny days ahead.
