Whispers
The day slowly slides into the river
on the west side of the city
and shadows lean across your back yard
like a cat stretching after a long nap,
only to lay back down again
as night curls in.
Skies all around you lie quiet,
having perfected their art
in splashes of colour thrown in magical array
to the sounds of awe drifting upward,
they now rest in the silence
of the stars.
And you lay the day aside,
if but for a few hours,
to follow your dreams into slumber
where I take your hand in mine,
whisper your cares away,
and Love you.
