The Wanderer

Riding the steel rails
looking down the length of a river
as it stretches out before me,

sunlight dances on the surface
like silver dust sprinkled
from faery wings;
ripples chase time
as the wind cools it heels in the water,

Fogelberg and Lightfoot
sing mellow in my ear
and I find peace
in thoughts of
you.
