I Loved You Today

Snow drifted lazily from the sky
searching for tongues to rest upon,  
and dressed the world in Christmas white
while drinking in the hustle and the bustle
to leave a hush upon my heart.

And on this day
I Loved you. 

Heart sounds whispered across the land
riding the tail of a gentle breeze
leaving kisses on my cheeks
and lifting the weight of many burdens
from the shoulders of my soul

And this because
I Loved you today

I closed my eyes and listened
to the sound of your breath against my hair
and felt the warmth that dwells
deep inside me where you left it
that very first day,

And just like every day
I Loved you today
