I Thought of You Today

I thought of you today.
The sun was shining and the sky was blue,
it made the grass look even greener
than it usually does.
There was only the softest breeze
that gently kissed my cheeks 
and toyed with my hair.
I thought how peaceful it was.

And that made me think of you;
how warm and bright my heart feels
when I am with you;
how peaceful it is in your arms.

I thought of you the other day.
The clouds were dark and hanging low,
and the air was crying misty tears
in a dreary mood.
The wind was harsh and cold
and the world seemed empty,
no one out to brave the weather
that darkened as it brewed.

And that made me think of you;
how empty and cold I feel
when you’re not here,
how lonely this world is without you.

I thought of you yesterday.
As I strolled along a busy street
I noticed couples walking hand in hand
smiling into each other’s eyes,
Young and old, especially the old,
I noticed the love on their faces
that had lived through the ages
and it brought me sighs.

And it made me think of you;
how it seems our love is timeless,
that you have always been here,
and always will be, in my heart.

I will think of you tomorrow.
Everywhere I will look, 
I will see something, 
some tiny little thing I might find,
that will fill my heart 
with a joy I never knew before, 
the joy of knowing you,
and you will cross my mind.

And it will make me think of you,
for you are always in my thoughts.
