Speak Thy Love With Kisses

Tempt not my heart with words of faithless love
nor gifts of flourish, riches, or fanfare;
beguile me not with promises thereof,
for such as these I have no wish or care.

These words that liveth not within the heart
cascade around my ears like autumn leaves,
and haveth no emotions to impart
that maketh love a truth my soul believes.

Nay, speakest thee more deeply with thy lips
in kisses laid with tenderness’ caress;
scribe thee thy love, with gentle fingertips
upon my flesh, what words can not express.

Let voiceless language prove thy love to me
and bind thy heart to mine, and mine to thee.
