Some Days
The sun brings you with it
when it kisses my face in the morning
laying you next to me in my waking,
whispering your name
and painting you
in the shadows on the wall
Some days are dipped in magic
like the warm breath of summer
wrapped in a November bow
with passions laid bare for the taking
both taken and given
behind the most unlikely of doorways
to heaven
Some days are defined by their memories,
heartbeats melting into synchronized beats
in the most peaceful place on earth,
leaving indelible imprints
embossed upon the pages of forever
And when the cold and dampness slides in
on the oblique rays of the sun
that cannot take me with it
as it roams across the sky
I am reminded once again
of the continuum of space and time
For I have sailed the seven seas to nowhere,
my ship having never lifted anchor;
I have lived life within the walls of my cocoon;
I ride a magic carpet on the night winds
flying in circles around my room
I’ve tasted a bit of heaven in London
and seen Paris by the light of the moon
though I’ve never been to England, or France.
But through it all,
though some days are painted
in fog and moonless midnights
while others are brushed
with rose petals and kisses
when each day ends
all that really matters is
I have felt Love and I have given Love,
wrapped within the circuitry
of a single heartbeat
