Serenade in Blue

The sun dips behind the trees;
It’s long past summer’s glory days
As the wealth of bright red berries
On the mountain ash attest.
The day lilies have lost their heads,
Nights are getting longer
And another moonless night
Has come and gone

An invisible touch slides like a finger
Along my skin
Tracing its way in ways that
Make me turn my head
A little to the left,
And the radio plays
Are you gonna be my girl?

An autumn hush rides the breeze
Whispering in from the river
And it sings to me,
In the silence of the night,
And I know without hesitation
That sweet dreams are made of this

Reluctant to open my eyes
To the dark of lonely,
I lie in this phantom embrace,
Stirred on the tip of a hungry tongue
Humming softly to midnight —
Baby, I Love your way
