Touching Stars
You came to me
like a ship sailing on the horizon
as if floating
on the edge of a dream
and I watched in awe
as you drifted closer,
until you wrapped me
in a warmth
I’d never known before.
You lifted me from the water
and placed me in your sails;
I closed my eyes to feel
the passion of the breeze
that kissed my skin
with the brush of tender lips.
We sailed into the moonlight
on a ribbon laid in silver
and in the flutter of an eye
we melted into one;
you became a part of me
— and I of you —
and at that moment
we could touch the stars.
