River of Souls
Meet me in the estuary
where words flow in gentle swirls
as North meets South
at the mouth of this river,
wade in and bathe with me
beneath the waterfall
that cascades
like crystal sunlight
and sighs
Cup your hands to the water
as it falls from my face
and sip the essence I have breathed
into each syllable,
then hold it like a kiss
against your lips
to quench your thirst
and immerse yourself
as the hidden whispers
call your name
And when you have tasted
every drop
and fed your soul
with memories both old
and yet unmade
reach into the current
to pluck the diamond from within
and carve the names of poems
on the rocks that line
the shore.
