Whispers Like Raindrops

The day grows long
inside the shadows of an ageing willow
draped in a shawl of muted dusk
as silent lids begin to droop
and the wind dances in the distance
to the melody of your heart
in the softest tones that kiss my ears
and send a tingle down my spine

As I close my eyes
to hear their song humming from within,
 and breathe the moonlight
into the depths of my lungs
I feel the swell of your Love
inflate me

Whispers fall like raindrops
and I lift my face
to feel the trickle of their kiss
and taste their sweetness
in the gentle mist upon my lips
as kisses soft as whispers
 flutter past my ears
in slow decent to lower places,
leaving butterflies to dance across my skin

As tongue kisses palate
in a slow, lingering slide,
the taste of you captures my breath
like a spark on tinder dry wood,
glides down my throat on a stifled moan,
igniting memories in a flash of flames
that cascades through both mind and body,
and lifts me off my feet
like Dorothy riding on the wind
in a tornado of emotions
that circle ‘round my heart
and I am wrapped
within the essence of you
