Splitting The Rainbow

As we run this race of life,
time plays it’s trickery
on the hearts of men and women,
and the ring of its laughter
drums incessant on my mind.

Doors that closed behind me
with a clanging in the night
have forced my feet upon
the narrow, overgrown paths,
meeting misery at every turn.

And then, by chance
the light began to trickle,
like colour through an ancient prism
and in the space between the yellow
and the green, I found you.
