Love Potion

I‘ve wondered what ingredients
would make a lovers potion
enough to fill two hearts
to overflowing.

Would it need a nectar pure
and coloured deep blood red,
from the petals of sweet roses
picked before the drying of the dew?

Would it want a tiny sprinkle
of pollen from a new forget-me-not
collected at the dawn
upon the wings of honeybees?

Would it be heated by the embers
of stars taken from the sky,
and gently stirred by a heartbeat,
lightly captured on a string?

And when the sweet elixir
was poured into a kiss
would it capture every heart
just as you have captured mine?
