Silent Whispers

You open a whole new world,
visions cast before my eyes
like daydreams brought to life;
smiles reflected on the evening blue
in heart-stopping clarity,
wrapping your thoughts in animated warmth
as words become more
than just words.

I gaze in silent stupor,
sometimes forgetting the need to speak
as my heart whispers its own
unspoken syllables
across my lips
and I am left wishing you could
taste them on the tip of your tongue.

But I cannot touch you
and oh, how deep
that ache to touch you grows,

Transport me on the waves
of a silent zephyr
that flows between two worlds;
I will kiss your fingertips
letter by letter
until midnight claims the day
to begin another
and I am left with sweet dreams
as the darkness steals you
in a silent poof.
