Phantom
You’re like a phantom
slipping through my fingers,
your breath a gentle whisper
brushing your name
in feather strokes,
upon each beat
of my heart.
You’re a shadow,
ever-fleeting,
with fingertips that stroke
in gentle trails along my neck,
laying kisses,
soft as snowflakes
on my skin.
Drifting wordlessly,
you course within my veins
for you’re a part of me;
you're every breath that fills me
and every sigh that slips
across my lips.
And you are painted on my lashes
with the salt of every tear
that wells in missing you,
each gently kissed away
by tender moonlit breezes
that bear the hush
of your voice
and the warmth
of your touch.
You are.
And therefore
I am.
