Nothing New I have nothing new To share with you today. Blood still flows freely As my heart continues to beat; The echoes have dimmed, But have not yet been vanquished; The ache I’ve lived with for so long Still lifts its unforgiving head Though I manage to suppress it With poison. Winter, in all its pristine splendour, Still grips its hands around my neck And chokes my breath While sending shivers down my spine, I’m still eyeing the horizon Where snowbirds will soon take flight Following ancient paths of migration, And the dance still calls my name. So there’s nothing new today; You’re still too far away And I still Love blue. Janet Reid january 2009
