Love Letter
Days have flown on sparrow wings since we’ve been apart;
Sometimes I feel an aching deep within my heart.
I long to see the smile that flashes in your eyes
and feel the brush of breath from your whispered sighs.
I often sense your fingertips laying on my skin
They flood my heart with warmth, I feel it deep within.
And when the wind plays coyly outside my windowpane
I hear your gentle laughter ring in my ears again.
I count each rosy sunset; each rising of the moon
Waiting for the day I know is coming soon—
The day I feel my heartbeat pressed against your own
Wrapped in the warmest place I have ever known.
Until that day, remember, Dear, I’ll be here missing you
For deep within my aching heart there lives a love that’s true.
