Listen To My Love

Close your eyes and listen
to my love,
hear it circle ‘round your head
like the breeze
that kisses scented lilacs
and softly cradles butterflies and bees.
Hear it whisper ‘I am here’
as it dances with the silence
around your empty room.

Close your eyes and listen
with your heart,
for you won’t see it
when it wraps itself
around you like a hug
that drapes across your shoulders
from behind
and breathes the softest sounds
into your ears.

Close your eyes and listen,
you will hear it
with the silence in the air,
as it runs its fingers
slowly through your hair
with murmurings
of words you cannot hear,
but you will know them,
for they are strong
and they are ageless
— they are love.
