As I was wandering along the shores
of life’s great open sea,
I chanced upon your kindred soul
you became a friend to me.
We started on a journey
to where, we did not know,
content to travel hand in hand
wherever we did go.
We shared each other’s laughter
as the waves lapped at our feet
and listened to the music
keeping time with each heartbeat.
When one of us would stumble
over rocks or fallen trees
or feel the harshness of the wind
replace the lightly blowing breeze
the other one was always there
to lend a friendly hand
and lift each other’s spirits high
and help each one to stand.
Somewhere along our journey
we held each other near
a bond we felt between us
that each of us held dear.
Then on along that sandy shore
we traveled once again
knowing only what we felt
not how, or why, or when
and silently your soul and mine
kept walking hand in hand.
