A Woman in Love

You sit, alone and silent,
Your image a moment frozen in time
As it flashes before my eyes,
Lingering just long enough
To set my heart off kilter
And leave it clambering to right itself
Like a spinning top out of control
While I imagine your eyes
Smiling down into mine;
The soft lines on your face
As you lovingly laugh at me;
The timbre of your voice
That always soothes me
No matter what you say;
The gentle, yet strong touch
Of your hand wrapped around mine …
And then you are gone
And I wonder if you were thinking of me
Because I can’t get you 
Out of my thoughts
 
Then again
I don’t even try

And I pick myself up 
Dust myself off
And move purposefully into
The next part of my day
Revitalized
Revived
Recharged
Because I am 
A woman in Love
And no matter where you are
You have that effect
On me
