Graffiti

In thick black marker:
for a good time call ...
written in graffiti 
on the bathroom wall 
and someone else had scratched
 D heart J

She smiled and traced
initials not her own
and wondered if this D & J
were really lovers,
or just a schoolgirl crush
immortalized in letters
on the bathroom stall.

And in her heart she holds her own
graffiti on the wall,
inscribed in precious ink
in letters strong and tall
and she knows beyond a doubt that
D heart J.
