Fireworks


In a flash of light
diamonds fill the sky
draped above the world,
and then, 
in the silence of wonder
they drift slowly earthward
like faery dust sprinkled
on a windless night
and I feel like I
could reach up and touch them
like bubbles on my hand,
and feel the magic flowing
through my veins.

And I am filled with awe,
and I believe
that this is what Love feels like,
and the only thing missing 
is your arms
wrapped around me in the night.

And in a flash of light
the sky is afloat
with rubies
and emeralds 
and sapphires
draped above the world
and the faeries wink as they float by
  with another piece of my heart
to light the sky with diamonds

And truly, I believe
that this 
is what Love feels like.
