Echoes of Moonbeams
Someone painted moonbeams
in soft shades of silver grey,
and wrapped them in a sheath
of frosted glass
then blew it gently
like a kiss into the sky
where it floated like a bubble
on a sultry summer breeze,
reflected in lonesome lovers’ eyes
with shadows weaving softly
like a breath among their hair.
And when the midnight breeze
wrapped its fingers ‘round a heartbeat,
stealing kisses on the curl
of trembling lashes,
someone sprinkled teardrops
in a peaceful woodland stream
to watch them float
upon the water like diamonds
and sparkle in the starlight
as they echoed whispered love songs
in the night.
And as the wind danced
beneath a canopy of dreams
spread across the sky,
in a mesmerizing waltz of aching souls,
someone breathed a sigh
upon the breeze
to feel the quiver of its touch
like a veil draping over tender skin,
where it trickled down like raindrops
in a trail of soft caresses
leaving lovers’ passion
in its wake.
