Sleeping Dragon

My love, like the sleeping dragon, lies 
deep within the corners of my heart. 
It slumbers with fire on its breath; 
embers glowing, always burning, 
shooting sparks into the night, 
always silent, yet steadfast in the dark. 

The day will come when freely it may roam 
upon the soft green earth for all to see. 
A day to shine before all eyes; 
spread its mighty wings and fly; 
and rise up high above the clouds, 
soaring free and proud before the sun. 

Until that day, I harbour it from sight 
known only to the one who shares my soul, 
the one for whom this fire burns so bright; 
who, with just one look from his eyes 
can wake this dragon from his sleep; 
the one to whom it whispers "I Love You"
