Closer

Come closer!

I want to see the steel
glint in your eyes when you smile
I want to read the passion
written there, just for me.

Closer!

Come close enough to touch;
I want to trace your skin
with fingertips;
press hand to hand and feel your heat
against my palm.

Closer, Baby!

Paint shivers down my spine
with your breath against my neck;
elicit trembling whispers
from my lips
with your kiss.

Closer still!

Close enough to drum your name
against my chest
with your heartbeat;
to read each breath I breathe
like Braille,
and close enough to Love me
— all night long.

Is that close enough, Baby?
