Calm

Effortlessly he draws her
into the center of his universe,
there, in the comfort of his arms,
with an urgency spoken 
with silence,
and a depth of Love conveyed 
in the gentle strength
of his hold.  
 
She tucks her head 
neatly beneath his chin,
to rest against his heart
as it plays a lullaby to her soul,
and they float into nirvana
on a trail marked out 
by tender fingers brushing
through her hair.

For one fleeting moment,
—just several seconds shy of forever—
the world is light years away
and nothing 
has ever felt so calm.
