Where I Belong
Laying in your arms I know
there is no place I would rather be
There are no demands,
simply acceptance of what has been,
what is, and what will be given.
We say almost nothing;
we do nothing;
we want nothing.
We simply are.
We are together ...we are One.
Where do you end and I begin?
Your arms do not imprison me
but merely drape over me
with a tenderness; a warmth;
a love profound in it’s understatement.
I like it here,
Oh that I never had to leave this place.
I am overcome with a feeling of belonging,
I have come home.
Never before have I felt so welcomed
so comfortable,
in any other place in my life.
Time lingers on
and still we lay content
adrift in an inner place
immune to time’s trappings.
We save every touch;
every breath;
every flicker of an eyelid
in a memory that will last forever;
long after we leave each other’s arms;
enough to last until the time
when I come home again.
