My Addiction

Stand still,
Let me drink in the vision
That is you
And bask in the fire
That smoulders in steel blue,
Casting time into the forge
To be melted, poured
And redefined

Don’t move,
Let me feel your heart
Pulsing through my hands
Palms pressed flat
As I read the pages of you,
Lingering over every syllable
From top to bottom,

For you are my addiction
And I will fall to my knees in worship,
Painting you in the colours of desire
Gleaned from the subtle catch
In your breath;
I will lay whispers
Of my confessions, softly
Against your skin with my fingers
And the tip of my tongue
Will bear witness
To my weakness

Pause for just a moment longer
As I bathe in the truth
Of your presence,
And when my eyes tell you
To reach out and take me,
Lift me up
And love me
