Wishes
Wishes are what faeries
dust their wings with
as they flit between the pages
of the dreams that line the shelves
of men and women;
collected, pressed,
preserved;
something to look back on
when the stars shine less bright
to eyes that have grown dim.
Watered with tears,
or kissed by the rays of a smile,
melted together with hopes
and blown,
like molten glass,
each one unique,
each one transformed,
painted with pieces of heart
and gilded
with wisps of soul,
to be treasured
unto forever’s last breath.
