Give Me Wings

Give me my wings,
lift me from this mire
and let me feel the wind against my face;
let me breathe,
and let me soar amongst the clouds
with eagles
and sparrows alike.

But mostly,
give me back my wings
that I may walk

Let me shake these chains that bind me
to the earth with heavy links
and give me comfort in the knowing
that the choice  is mine,
and should I choose to fly
they are there.
