Whirlwind
Swing, like a leaf in the deafening wind
swirling around in a heady whirl,
hold the ropes, hope your nerves don’t unfurl!
Sway, like a bridge on a weakening rope
as your feet make the leap to the next sturdy board
close your eyes lest you miss your reward!
Run, like the river in early spring thaw
skirting danger on white water waves
‘fore your countenance crumbles and caves!
Leap, like a floundering fish out of water
try to catch the next rumbling train,
spin around; take the fall, and start all over again!
