The Touch Of A Song

It lifts me, like a million tiny butterflies,
to float upon the breeze, effortless and free.
Gently, it pokes into my consciousness
with all its memories in tow,
and I am lost, adrift in tranquil waters
basking in the reminiscent glow.

It soothes me, like the soft muted hues
of a rainbow in the misty skies of dawn.
The melody warms me in the coldest night
as it tiptoes merrily through my heart,
dancing, throwing rose petals in the air
to fall like tender kisses on my face.

It holds me, in the embrace of timelessness
and spins me ’round to face the past,
suspended in eternity in the blink of an eye.
Then like a tiny feather, downward floating,
it sets me gently to rest amid the music
that will linger in my heart, softly singing.
