The Guardian

  Her beauty is breathtaking
  wrapped in velvet robes of purest white;
  decorated with crystals and lace,
with sparkling diamonds in her hair.

  She moves with hypnotic grace
  in silence clear and crisp,
and remains the subject of great awe
for all who pass her way.

And yet, she harbours deep within,
  a fierce protectiveness,
  unleashed with unexpected fury
  like the harshest wind.

But when her tempestuous mood has passed
she spreads her arms and gathers all
within the comfort of her embrace
until her watchful eye is needed not.

Then she slowly fades into the dawn
to let her sisters dance and play
until once again they tire of their fun
and she returns, the guardian of their sleep.
