Tripping The Light Fantastic

Somewhere over Texas
the sun slides a long slow glow
along the horizon
in one last shimmering hurrah
before dipping beneath the lip
at the edge of the earth
and settling into night.

Having played the same concerto 
over Florida, she prepares to glide
along the New Mexico skyline
on a one day concert tour
culminating with 
a grand finale light show
over the Pacific.

There she’ll gently cool her toes
before the lights of Tokyo 
welcome her to the Orient,
and the scent 
of cherry blossoms
accent the colour
splashed across the sky.
