Jack-O-Lantern Chorus If you listen you can hear their voices on the whistling wind; if you follow haunted humming you will find them in the night. On this one night of the year they gather, feeding on your fear, they stand in clusters, closing in, —feel the goose bumps on your skin? If you hear their voices murmur like an owl hooting low in a chorus hypnotizing walk real slow, prepare for fright! They look like pumpkins at first glances but they’ll trick you, given chances this is the day they own the night and your fear is their delight; If you look you’ll see the glimmer of their eyes in moonless dark; if you creep beneath the branches they might not see you — or they might! On the last day of October they’ll offer treats to win you over; make you sing, this ghostly night but watch out for scary sights! october 2005 Janet Reid
