Entwined Incarnations

I stand at water's edge
The horizon behind me a wall
Fire-red, as night consumes the sky
In the mid of day
And Moses' rushes quake
As ashes fall
Painting faces one by one,
Lost among the lost
As my memory goes dark.

You walk beneath the ocean
Echoes resonating in your ears,
Your voice silenced by the deep
As your heartbeat joins the beating
Of the waves

Breakers crash against the rocks
As old as the coastline,
As constant as the tides,
An echo reaching like a magnet
Calling my name, a siren
Unseen yet unrelenting,
An allure that grips me even though
I run barefoot
Through pastures never kissed
By salted mists

Time leaves much behind
To be forgotten,
But not all
I find myself standing once again
At the water's edge
For I see the ocean
In your eyes
