How Quick They Grow

Nursery rhymes
softly hummed at night;
teddy bears;
lace bonnets;
snuggling up in Mother’s arms.
New bundle of joy

Finger paints
of stick men and dogs;
ice cream smiles
and mud pies;
squirming away from Mom’s hand.
Toddler on the go.

Hide and seek
swimming in the creek
climbing trees;
skinning knees;
baseball bats or ballet shoes.
Big kids now!

Broken hearts
shared with her their friends;
cheerleaders;
football stars;
finding a date for the prom.
Too soon gone!

Wedding dress;
trailing rose bouquet;
man and wife
from this day;
loving looks from bride and groom.
New life now.

Nursery rhymes
softly hummed at night;
teddy bears;
lace bonnets;
snuggling up in Mother’s arms.
New bundle of joy...
