Don't Ask

Don’t ask me my opinion
unless you’re ready to accept
that I am entitled to have one
and it doesn’t have to be
the same as yours. 

So if the only opinion 
you really want to hear
is your own
then don’t ask me what I think
because I’m not just here
to validate.

And if I say I don’t have one
dont press me for more,
it might be best 
to leave this one unsaid,
so don’t ask me my opinion
unless you really are prepared 
to hear the things I have to say. 

And since you’re not —
don’t ask.
