There are 3 stages in a man's life: 'My Daddy can whip your Daddy,'
'Aw, Dad, you don't know anything,' and 'My father used to say . . .'

The Cycle Of Life
Once there was a little boy
who overflowed with pride.
His dad was best there was,
a fact he never tried to hide.
No one could do things better,
oh what powers that man had!
A superhuman hero
that man that he called “Dad”.
As that boy became a teen
his outlook changed a lot
and the man he called his Dad
no longer held that precious spot.
He turned his face away
scoffed and let his laughter show,
for he knew more at his age
than Dad could ever know.
But now that boy’s a man
he’s lost his dad to age,
but when he talks about him
that old pride shows on his face.
He told me just the other day
some very good advice
and with a smile he added
“my Dad was very wise.”
And as he takes his own son
to practices and games,
he knows that there will come a day
when things won’t be the same
But what goes around still comes around
and he’ll suffer through that stage
until the day when Dad and Son
become friends once again.
