Alice

The sun is shining
But I should be Alice
Sliding down the rabbit hole,

Let me linger in the warren
Where the world cannot accost me
Cannot toss me
Like a ping-pong ball in play

I should be Alice
Taking lessons from the cat
To keep a smile upon my face
While the flood is never ending
But I'm tired of pretending
Life has a rosy hue.

The sun is shining
But I wish I could be Alice
And escape
